Ergonomic Features of an Office Chair

If you stay in the office for a long time, then you will need an office chair. The sitting position will add the stress to your structure at the spine.  If you want to avoid compounding problems that may lead to chronic back pain, then it will be good if you get an ergonomic office chair that will support your lower back while promoting the best posture.
What are the best office chairs?
You will find different types of the ergonomic chairs that you can have in the office.  There is no single chair considered to be the best for everyone but there are some important features that you would have to look out for in the ergonomic office chair.  These features will help you to customize the chair so that it can fit better in your specific needs.
What features to look for in the chair?
You need to know first things to look for in the conventional style.
The height of the chair: office chair should have a height that can be adjustable. The pneumatic adjustment lever is the best way that you may achieve this. The seat height can be between 16 up to 21 inches and it is suitable for most people.  The right height will allow the user to have her or his feet flat at the floor while the thighs will be sitting horizontally and the arms are at the same height as the desk.

Seat depth and width: the seat does have to have the depth and width capable of supporting the user in a comfortable manner. This is normally 17 inches to 20 inches. The depth should be enough so that user can sit with her or his back against the backrest.  The backward and the forward tilt of a seat have to be adjustable.
Lumbar support: the lower back support in the ergonomic chair is something important. The lumbar spine has the inward curve and sitting for a long period without having the support for the curve, it leads to the slouching and it strains the structure of a lower spine. The ergonomic chair should have a lumbar adjustment for depth and height so that the user may get the right support for the inward curve and at the lower back.
Back rest:  to ensure that the office chairs is ergonomic, then its backrest should be between 12 up to 19 inches. The back rest should be of adjustable angle and height. It has to support a natural curve for the spine, and special attention should be paid to the right lumbar region. When the office chair has the backrest and seat together, then the backrest has to be adjustable to back and forward angle using locking mechanism which should secure it in the position chosen.
Seat material: check if the material on the office chair has enough padding so that you can sit on it for an extended period without any problem.  It is good to buy the chair with a breathable fabric instead of a chair with a hard surface.
